HANPECA – CITIZEN SCIENCE

HANPECA focuses on establishing community-based environmental teams to collect data through citizen science, build a strong local network, and lay the groundwork for community-led action to reduce waste pollution.

Results

Established 4 Local Environment Teams (LETs) in 4 wards: Yen Hoa (Cau Giay district), Chuong Duong Do (Hoan Kiem district), Ngoc Ha (Ba Dinh district), and Co Loa (Dong Anh district).
Trained 25 volunteers from the 4 LETs on how to classify waste, observe waste sites, and use the Anecdata platform to record their observations.
Customized the Vietnamese content of Anecdata, a citizen science-based platform, to collect observations on solid waste and related information about specific locations in Hanoi.
Collected observations at 184 points across 2 wards (Lieu Giai and Yen Hoa).
